Emergency Preparedness Information
At Red Bluff Pet Resort, we understand that your pet is part of the family and you want to know that they are safe and cared for while you're away. We have safety measures and emergency preparedness procedures in place to ensure the well-being of all pets in our care. These procedures are reviewed throughout the year and steps are taken to make sure equipment and supplies are ready in the event of an emergency.
FIRE
In the event of a fire, we have fire extinguishers located throughout the building. They are professionally serviced every year. We have a fire alarm system that is directly linked to the Deer Park Fire Department. If the fire alarm goes off they are notified and can respond immediately. We have an evacuation plan in place and it is reviewed regularly for necessary changes and updates. In addition, we have fire blocks throughout our walls to prevent fire from spreading rapidly. We also have to pass an annual fire marshal inspection from the city.
POWER OUTAGE
If a power outage occurs, our building has full back up power with a generator. The generator automatically turns on during a power failure.
WEATHER EMERGENCY (HURRICANE, FLOOD, FREEZE)
Unfortunately weather emergencies sometimes occur where we live. We watch these events carefully and make plans accordingly. Our building is made of steel to protect against wind damage. We also keep plenty of dog food and emergency water on hand at all times. We have a back up generator that provides full power to the building in case of a power failure.
If we have to close for a weather emergency, we have staff members who will come and feed and walk pets as soon as it's safe to do so. If the situation warrants, we may have someone stay overnight. Certain parts of Red Bluff Rd is prone to flooding but our building sits up very high and we have never come close to flooding at this time.
If we have a mandatory evacuation order for our area, we will contact you and/or your emergency contact indicated at check-in to come pick up your pet with as much notice as possible. We will do everything in our power to get your pet to a safe location but we ask for your cooperation in making sure you have a back-up plan on the rare occasion that a mandatory evacuation order is given.
SHELTER IN PLACE
Due to our proximity to the chemical plants in our area, we monitor unexpected activity through our local emergency management offices and the CAER Line. If a shelter in place is given, we will take necessary steps to turn off our AC/heat and secure our facility as indicated.
